Where is Posh Pioneers?

Located south of Taumarunui on the Whanganui River, Posh Pioneers is ideally situated for those canoeing the Whanganui River.

How do I get there?

There is no vehicle access to our property so most of our guests arrive via Canoe/Kayak down the Whanganui AWA (river). If you are not feeling adventurous enough to make your way down the river then please get in touch and we will explore options available to you.

What if I have dietary requirements?

We can cater for most special requirements; please indicate your requests on the booking form.

What are the facilities?

We have six pioneer-style accommodation wagons furnished with antique beds and luxurious bedding. Four of our huts have double beds and the other two huts have 2 x single beds.

All wagons have toilets, potbelly fire, tea and coffee available.

We have modern bathroom facilities, hot showers and composting toilets. Which are all ecologically friendly.

Our sites are totally off the grid and powered by the sun. We have cell phone charging facilities on site.

We have a communal dining area for all meals which are included in your stay.

What do I bring?

You will need personal toiletries, sturdy footwear (sand shoes are fine), personal clothing, swimming togs, warm jersey, sunhat, raincoat, umbrella, and a camera. Towels and bedding are provided.

Where is the nearest airport?

The nearest airport is Taupo Airport. We do have our own helipad.

Is there Wifi?

Yes, there is WiFi for online communications. One of the special features of Posh Pioneers is its remote location, and you may choose to enjoy this fully and use your phone only for photos.

Food?

We are fully equipped to cater all meals during your stay. All catering must be booked in advance.

Our menu is seasonal as many foods are sourced from our organic garden. We also have barista-made coffee and NZ herbal teas.

We can cater to most dietary requirements (please make this clear when booking).

Do you cater for special events?

Yes, we cater for small weddings, anniversaries, and team-building weekends.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancelling within 7 days prior to arrival incurs a cancellation fee of 50%.
