Where is Posh Pioneers?


Located south of Taumarunui on the Whanganui River, Posh Pioneers is ideally situated for those canoeing the Whanganui River.

How do I get there?

You can be picked up from Kirikau, 30 minutes south of Tamarunui. A map will be provided at the time of booking (please be aware cell phone reception is limited along this route).

What if I have dietary requirements?

We can cater for special requirements; please indicate your requests on the booking form.

What are the facilities?

We have six pioneer-style accommodation wagons furnished with antique beds and luxurious bedding. Four of our huts have double beds and the other two huts have 2 x single beds.

All wagons have toilets, potbelly fire, tea and coffee available.

We have modern bathroom facilities, hot showers and composting toilets. Which are all ecologically friendly.

Our sites are totally off the grid and powered by the sun. We have cell phone charging facilities on site.

We have a communal dining area for all meals. Please note the cost of meals is additional.

What do I bring?

You will need personal toiletries, sturdy footwear (sand shoes are fine), personal clothing, swimming togs, warm jersey, sunhat, raincoat, umbrella, and a camera. Towels and bedding are provided.

Where is the nearest airport?

The nearest airport is Taupo Airport. We do have our own helipad.

Is there Wifi?

Yes, there is WiFi for online communications. One of the special features of Posh Pioneers is its remote location, and you may choose to enjoy this fully and use your phone only for photos.

Food?

We are fully equipped to cater all meals during your stay. All catering must be booked in advance.

Our menu is seasonal as many foods are sourced from our organic garden. We also have barista-made coffee and NZ herbal teas.

We can cater to most dietary requirements (please make this clear when booking).

Do you cater for special events?

Yes, we cater for small weddings, anniversaries, and team-building weekends.
